There are a variety of reasons to join school activities. You may want to explore a special interest, have fun, be with other students, develop new skills, or cultivate already apparent talents.

One thing is known for sure: Students involved in activities not only have more fun in high school, they also do better in their classes and are ultimately more successful.

This happens not only here at Senn, but also in schools across the country.

Does this mean only smart students join clubs? Of course not. Not every student who joins a club is a top student. But something happens to students who become involved. When put in a situation with people who share common interests and a coach or sponsor who wants to work with them, students can get additional support and help from the group that they may not get from home or from other class teachers.

Students on a team get encouragement to do better in class so they can play in the next game. Students who are able to develop a special interest or skill can build on that success in other areas of school work.

Active membership in clubs and activities can also help in the future. College admissions officers and future employers want to know what you did in high school besides attend classes. Many scholarships are granted on the basis of not only grades and ACT/SAT scores, but also extracurricular activities.

At Senn, you can choose from over 40 clubs and activities which appeal to a wide variety of interests. Which of them appeal to you?
