The Music Department broadens students' musical horizons and encourages them to develop their musical talents.
The General Music course is designed to meet the needs of students who are not involved with performing groups. In this class, students focus on basic music theory and explore other topics to encourage a better understanding and appreciation of music. They learn about musical instruments and performing groups and are introduced to the life and times of great composers and performers.
The Piano Lab helps students develop their listening and coordination skills as applied to keyboard instruments. The courses promote enjoying and understanding music through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and tone color. Movement, listening, music reading and writing all encourage students to explore a variety of musical styles through daily practice at a full range electronic keyboard.
