The Visual Arts program at Senn allows students many creative opportunities to explore the arts.
All students are enrolled in beginning art where they become familiar with materials, art-making processes, and vocabulary. They explore both two- and three-dimensional design, incorporating various elements and principles as they relate to art history, cultural-based art, and careers based in the arts.
At higher levels, students can take Studio Art to further their skills in a variety of media including painting, drawing, and sculpture. This course incorporates student critiques of the literal, visual, and expressive qualities of both professional and student work. A complete portfolio is expected at the end of the year.

Advanced Placement students choose an area of concentration that explores a specific theme or media. They analyze and evaluate how the choice of media, tools, and processes influence and support the communication of their concepts. Student work is embodied in a professional portfolio to be viewed and critiqued by the National Advanced Placement Board.
Senn High School is one of the few schools in CPS to offer a computer graphics elective. Students are exposed to industry-quality graphic software taught to them by a former advertising professional. Due to the uniqueness of this program, these students are highly recruited by art and design schools.
