College Credit
IB courses listed on a transcript indicate to college admissions officers that a student has pursued the most rigorous course of study available in high school. This college recognition of IB participation may be in the form of acceptance into more selective schools or the award of college credit.
Experience shows that not only are IB students accepted into more selective colleges, IB graduates complete college.
However, participating in the IB Diploma Programme does not guarantee acceptance to the college of choice or the award of college credit. Credit granted by colleges for IB coursework can vary widely, from no credit granted to full credit for one year.
For information about the credit policies at specific colleges, please refer to the International Baccalaureate Web Site.
