Mission
Athletics at Nicholas Senn High School fulfill an important part of our mission to develop young men and women and to help build their character through sports. Outstanding coaches and programs help students development discipline, place others before self and handle both joy and disappointments with grace and a generous spirit.
Requirements
- NO STUDENT ATHLETE IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE in tryouts, practice, or a game without a current / valid physical. Physicals are valid for 13 months.
- NO STUDENT ATHLETE IS ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE in tryouts, practice, or a game without a current / valid physical. Physicals are valid for 13 months.
- All student athletes must complete a Player Record Packet prior to the first practice.
Eligibility
Each week, students will be determined ineligible for extracurricular activities based on attendance, grade, and behavior data from the previous week. This includes sports games, performances, club meetings, and any school events. Students on the Bench List will complete restorative measures before participating in daily activities (practice/rehearsals), which are designed to help them get back on track and strengthen their success in class and activities. The Bench List resets each week, giving every student a fresh start and a chance for eligibility by showing growth and meeting expectations.
Criteria
Students will be on the “Bulldog Bench List” (ineligible) if they meet ANY of the following criteria in a given week:
- 2 or more unexcused absences 2 or more school tardies (Period 1)
- 5 or more class tardies (Periods 2-8)
- 1 or more class skips 1 or more Fs in any class
- Any behavior incidents Category 4 or above in the CPS Student Code of Conduct
Attendance
Students are expected to attend all team functions. Playing time is 100% at the discretion of the coaching staff. Playing time is not an expectation. Student athletes are expected to be at practice, film sessions, meetings, service projects, etc. But this does not guarantee playing time. Missed practice time for any reason can and will result in a loss of playing time.
