IB Middle Years Programme
Senn is the first wall-to-wall IB high school in the city of Chicago; as such, ALL 9th and 10th grade
students at Senn are in the IB Middle Years Programme.
Senn has been authorized* to offer the IB Middle Years Programme. Schools that offer
IB Programmes sharea common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Senn High School believes is important for its students.
Senn's IB Middle Years Programme is implemented in partnership with Peirce Elementary School. Click here to learn more about the Senn-Peirce Partnership.
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a framework of academic challenge that encourages students to draw connections between traditional school subjects and the real world while promoting critical and reflective thinking. All MYP students take courses in 8 subject areas, participate in cross-disciplinary work, and complete a culminating Personal Project. All students who complete the MYP are eligible for selection to the IB Diploma Programme, upon review of their grades, teacher recommendations, and a student interview.
* Only schools authorized by the IB organization can offer any of its three academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), or the Diploma Programme.
IB POLICIES
The following policies have been created in collaboration with various Senn stakeholders, in accordance with guidelines of the IB, and are aligned to the standards and practices of the International Baccalaureate. Policies are continually reviewed and revised as needed. If you have any questions or would like to serve on the review panel for one or more of the policies, please contact Lauren Lucchesi through this website or at [email protected]
