I know what I'm talking about Ralph glasses where try to see if not there. look at the camera either one talk about my abilities I think one of the first things that we need to do is make sure we're the message is clear weather forecast for tomorrow what are you thinking about what's the weather like like having conversation I would need your kids are behaving. about the right song you know one of the things that we deal with his Target and what's going to happen if he would jump down student stabbed exactly what's going on so they can get there earlier that's really important I guess this is what is the role of business plan and we want to make sure we're taking the time and space deviating from the expectation and we will figure out like I will for that month a key Circle so I'm not sure if anybody here but it's a technique that we try that one so that will reacting to behavioral it's getting from we can check ourselves as well set a timer at first and then we have two parts of a pregnant lizard brain approach right and definitely music whatever we're not the situation like that is there a dump evidence and it doesn't mean that we always. but it doesn't mean that would work for others it may be appropriate I will make sure that nobody is recommended what's up with you I am not on the sprain all right so I think we talked about the role of Baptist School we have different titles so maybe teacher so maybe lyrics I may be Engineers starting it's whatever you want to call them today or all coordinates and directions we need to enjoy them all. one of the biggest things that I'm adamant about making sure that we're making sure so it always talk about priorities whenever when you type of US Navy or whatever you're doing what they call it when is raccoon with broom in terms of individual what I do on a consistent basis what are the positive contributions find a mermaid. another thing that we are called I'm so looking at what are those are basic things that you can do is going to be successful for the reason that we do status about what important to me that we do that so maybe there's some people didn't realize it. what is the things that were really big on in Upland. breakfast in operations right at the kids are so we're really digging so one of the things that I've done it's really sad. we have invested a lot of this record my list. eBay trailer Alabama as a result of the presentation episode we also make mistakes are not a part of those. so we have and that will look different this afternoon we don't know that that's where that you can have a conversation about now that space is usually not sufficient rather than at the half-time so that I really depressing or things that the and then we octopus things watching Westerly to work on it a little bit different. what makes lightning all right thank you for asking that so what are the president got to do is if I am set up meetings with key stakeholders as well as an understanding Jefferson let me know if he was on a ride so where the money is about is it net worth if it is it may also be that Google that one program because somebody just decided we need more funding for now it's also looking at the budget and stabbed the other thing I would do is making sure that if it's not already in there and try and try the word commotion from Hansel corporate it's another thing, making sure that we're bringing individual together with the lse on mobile. the other thing that we need to do is make sure that. These are nice. my access you're not going to be a bully same thing so what about women I'm at which beer and everybody here knows and everybody there knows it will be the same question or the Canada so if it sounds like we're repeating ourselves. monkey add a reminder after this on next were they testing testing good evening send students families staff and Community my name is dr. Nicholas Aquino and I'm honored to be in the space with you all tonight when I started this I lost estudiante spy music stack of money. Just send me a yes or no throughout this interview and application process I have learned a lot about the hopes and vision for sin and I'm eager to learn even more this evening I also am excited to share a little bit of who I am my approach to leadership and why I believe my experience would be an invaluable asset to this end Community Helping Elevate sensor unprecedented Heights at Chicago's Premier neighborhood as a transformative School leader with 15 years of educational experience five in an assistant principal role at a dynamic neighborhood High School of over 1,700 amazingly talented students and staff I've built lasting authentic relationships rooted and respect and understanding of the histories and experiences of the students families teachers staff and community I know too that the sun Community is filled with natural talent and the more you learn about your school and what you were looking for in your next leader the more I believe my approach to leadership is one that is valued and needed my approach to leadership is centered around the following cultivating quality relationships and Trust identifying and harnessing Talent fostering leadership and improving team Effectiveness aligning resources plans and strategies to school vision and are you already creating processes and accountability for improve teaching learning and student outcomes one of the things that really draws me to send is the activist Spirit of the student body and the school's commitment to uplift student voice and improve student loan life as your principal candidate I'm committed to building on the ways that the school sent her students uplift their voices affirms their potential and actively supports them and being agents of change within a the school community in my current role I've demonstrated experience developing collaborative Partnerships between adults and students that have LEDs of meaningful practice change and increasingly student-centered culture and improve learning conditions evidence of this include an advisory curriculum developed by student teachers counselors post-secondary coaches and the dean Equity criteria that is now use review curriculum units and provide teachers feedback revised course reading list that include more texts that are both written by and sent her the experiences of black indigenous people of color lgbtqia religious my parties and other underrepresented communities also regular student feedback Cycles to provide teachers insight into how students are experiencing their classes and policy changes led by students with teacher and staff feedback another reason why I'm interested in leading sin is because of your bold decision to tackle Equitable green practices Walgreen practices can be very personal and controversial making sure that students have consistent X patients and experiences and how they are evaluated is a huge lever for improving student learning I've experienced developing teacher leaders to support a school-wide transition to a standards-based grading model using the IBA electives supporting teams in collaboratively developing common assessment and building their confidence using Universal rubrics and helping students understand what success looks like the process is ultimately lead to deeper. for students and grow more ambitious instruction and meaningful collaboration among staff who feel supported and enhancing their craft the sun Community is beautifully diverse and it is important that all School staff students families feel included empowered and supported and working towards a shared Equity centered vision as a first-generation college graduate I know firsthand how impactful it is when students have a network of support that includes teachers staff mentors and community members that believe in and nurture their potential as your principal candidate and I'm committed to ensuring that the assets and resources that exist in the community are leopards to expand possibilities for students support them in realizing their aspirations this also means partnering with families who do not feel included or who are underrepresented and harnessing their cultural assets as lovers for the school preschool a I look forward to the rest of the evening connecting with you all and answering your questions as you determine which candidate is the best fit to lead then thank you and how would you work for the building I think it's really important to first do a really good as a really strong assessment of what is already happening right what are the current Partnerships that already exists LR me based organizations Edgewater Chamber of Commerce Alderman Howard different members of the Community School Mexican deposit app if you can please repeat it is how it works works building in Trenton so the role of sin this is a neighborhood School and so it is important that you know what it's supposed to really become the center of the community if they're not already and so what that means is that there's meaningful Partnerships between members of the community and the school it means that community-based organizations are leveraged as a as a way to provide resources and mentorship to our students that could come in the in the form of internships mentorship work experience College and Career preparation among other things and also I know that your youth are active activists minded and are working as Global Citizens and so it's important to that they are also paying it forward at only within the school but also outside of the within the across the school community and so really creating Partnerships that allow students to drive to really uplift their voice and tackle the issues that they where about in the community and Beyond is super important and making sure that we leverage our community to support soon as to be able to do that work is critical in terms of relationships I think it's you know having an open door policy right really making sure that Community organizations and partners of San really feel like they're welcome in the school and that they are both and I think again thinking about the beautiful diversity of the school and the community it's important that that the diversity of of who is in the community and those organizations are teachers for the students and families see themselves represented in this world and in the partners that are working with their used with our youth to really prepare them for not only academic success but really to be Asian after school high school how do you divide how do you find so accountability what's important is that they are expectations or what's important is that there are clear expectations for how we interact with one another how we clap how we work together an order and then also shared agreements right that we can hold each other accountable to so that we can work collaboratively as a as a school Community to a student experience give me just a moment so in terms of staff I think job descriptions are very important and having clear and consistent expectations that we can refer back to our really helpful especially if we want to support our staff and teachers grow in their practice so having systems and processes to check that implementation is happening of what we have agreed on at the school community and what those policies are and that also goes the same for students so then ensuring that his expectations are clear consistent and if their systems and processes that ensure that there is follow-up happening right in terms of the role of discipline it's really important that the approach to discipline strengthen relationships that doesn't damage relationships with students and staff and so it's really about listening to understand what the challenges might be that someone is facing which could be reason why right they are not upholding their commitments or being Integrity with what the school with the shirt agreements for the school or the community until really leaning into a space of trying to listen to understand and work on building relational trust goes a long way and really understanding what is at the root of some of the challenges that students and staff might be facing right in terms of why they may not be holding up their end of the bargain if you will and really high an opportunity for people to get feedback and reflect on how they can go in a cruise I think it also means that interact with students and staff when people again or not being in Integrity with what the expectations are at the end of the day I think reading Partnerships is super important so again not taking a punitive approach to trying to manage and mitigate a challenge or challenging Behavior right maybe you know again that Integrity with what the expectations are but just making sure that people feel supported and heard but also put and also making sure that there are high expectations for students and staff and then as adults we are modeling the behavior that we expect from our students I think that modeling piece is really important and thinking about how do we hold each other accountable to that another thing that's important is brain processes that really help increase shared accountability horizontal right how do we Foster a culture where we hold each other accountable to the commitments that we've made together I think that is a lot more powerful than taking a punitive approach top down approach to addressing whatever challenges might come up where people not end up working in line with the agreements or expectations I'm here every person in a small building has a really important and vital role in supporting students feeling successful and in being successful and so it doesn't matter whether it's you know the one from the custodial staff do our culture and climate change were counselors for teachers for admin for student leaders everyone that so ultimately everyone plays an important role in the success of our school what I think is important is ensuring that all staff are really included in professional development it's really important that there's intentional culture building and Trust building that is extended to all again and not relegated to you know this is just a future PTR this is just accounts or PT or really creating opportunities to bring all stuff together to really learn who each other is this right to really develop relationships really understand what is experiences and perspectives so that they can make those connections that are going to tie them more closely to the school and to the students into each other and again I think that's one way to that's going to help improve that culture of shared accountability people do feel connected valued and respected by each other another thing that's important is in any school you know there's there's there's a mission there's a vision there and so what's important is that again all stakeholders and all staff that they are part of a gun that will either learn it but the conversations and Reflections about where does the where does their role in connection to the schools priorities and goals right because everyone here can be a value-added the really thinking again about in my role in my contacts where do I fit in the space and within the context of a Ortiz help move the store forward right that I can support students in achieving whatever priorities and goals that we have established together in terms of recognizing contributions I think that again when you built a culture that really feels communal right like because people are connected you're going to see you're going to see great things as you are also going to be exciting things that they are doing and that they are apart of waiting so it's really again reading that space to listen and learn to what folks are doing right what those accomplishments are and then thinking about how we can recognize them in both small and big way so it could be anything is love the right like celebrating with food and music and like food brings people together right and again I'm thinking about the amazing kind of Diversey your music and on the aspects of our culture that make us unique so just I think that that would be that's a beautiful way to celebrate each other we could be something as small as I noticed there are some some spots in the parking lot that I was dead right now so it could be in terms of recognizing you know what staff member is right for maybe how they help me because they participated in a restorative conversation between a teacher and student relationship right so I think really important is not just how people are being celebrated but creating that sense of community and Trust so that's that again people are celebrated in both formal and informal ways a really important question and again this is one of the things that really draws me to send is that commitment to really uplifting student boys during their experiences and really empowering them to be active agents of change within the school so I understand that there is a student government Council that was recently reinstated but I'm thinking about the part of your question that speaks to you know what to do and so again knowing the diversity of the school really in a sense of who is participating and who is not right so not just thinking about the cultural diversity of this world but also the linguistic diversity evening about students from different programs thinking about our diverse Learners and English Learners right and really making sure that we are really doing active recruitment I'm so that student leadership groups are really reflected of all of the students in the school so I think that that definitely takes intentionality and commitment you bunches dress code so I'm thinking about the end in my current role I have worked with student leadership who is really taking an active lead and revising the dress code for school as well as revising our lunch policy and her cell phone and so a lot of that was student-led and say what I think is important is when students are passionate but like it's important that we are responsible what units are interested in passionate about and that we find ways to partner with them right so that we can make real and dynamic change at the school that's better for everyone I also think it's important to I know I'm also thinking about issues of equity and how are example just thinking I guess what that is is this equity in terms of like how is powershare right so when I think about student voice I'm not thinking about you know or are we still visiting student feedback right is that all we're doing is doing a survey but more are we giving students a eat at the table right what happened to these are we creating to give them a seat at the table to have an active voice and helping shape school policy and change and be responsive to the things that students care about and so at the end of the day we are out here for our students success and we are all here to ensure that students have the best experience possible until I do understand and know that there are times where there are maybe conflicting commitments right or where initially you know maybe start the adults and students about changes that students wanted to see but it's important to have honest conversations to with adults about you know what are we really what are we really willing to change right are we how are really preparing to hear what students have to say and how are we also what is our commitment to honoring the things that they're telling us so I think that that's a really important component to the voices just reading the spaces for students to have the boys but also how are we working as a community amongst the adults in the community right to really think about what are we committed to what we say we sent her students voice defining what does that look like what are we willing to do differently and how are we willing to work in partnership with students where we really disrupt that power Dynamic and take down those barriers that do exist right A lot of times between adults some people so I can kind of relate to this experience but the school that I'm currently at also provides very diverse programming for students and I think there's a lot of kind of passion about the things that that they value and all of the programs are also evaluated for the school so I understand this sense of you know how do we how do we rally folks behind you know a common Vision right can you ask again you said something about making sugars Equitable support for all programs. so I think ultimately it's important to start with the end in mind so as a what are we saying we value right what is the vision for the school and what is the relationship between teachers and students that are part of the diverse program's right what is the relationship between that and the Charities and goals and vision of the school I think that's an important starting points because sometimes you know we can kind of in school sometimes make isolate right or feet you know baby self-select or because I'm part of this program you know I'm this is this is my group right but really getting going back to what is the vision for the school where do people see themselves in relationship to the vision right both students and adults so part of the work that I think is important is I think being specific about regardless of the program that we're talking about right what are the things that we are committing to what might be shared practices that we want to work towards together again regardless of the program I think that goes a long way in terms of bringing the sense of unity amongst kind of different programs and groups I also know that you recently implemented and advice kind of space in my understanding it that's a great space to bring students together right on from across program so I can thinking about what other kinds of things can you do can we do programming why it's right to bring students together across different programs in different grade levels in terms of resources equitable distribution of resources I think ultimately different programs have different needs right and there are costs often times Associated to those needs and so I think it's important to be realistic about those. all those things but also have a transparent process where there's different stakeholders involved in understanding you know what are the needs what are the cost and what do we value right so I know in some schools is a bunch of pieces but even bigger than what do we value as a school and how can how can each of these unique programs help support students and staff and working towards that larger Vision so again I think big picture having a transparent process is really important people know along the way right understanding how our resources might be allocated and why how they're connected to the values and vision for the school and also having a long-term plan right so really thinking so so stakeholders can anticipate and expect you know how will we sustain program until we sustain this unit programming first student but how come you expect that we're going to get what we need this year but next year I think he's having really intentional long-term planning is important to in being transparent about how resources will be allocated and how resources will be distributed to support each program equitable all right everytime I heard that question about accountability and diversity diversity discipline I guess I'm wondering what Sister Mary Roy from my high school would have said about the discipline question and I think she just would have discipline is very important because of somebody invited to give his opening remarks one more time and then from there we will move on to the open mic segment and the good evening I will press like to think the same principle selection committee and the local school invited me to participate in this evening for our my name is Doctor Tyrese G and I'm really depressed Community High School in the Uptown neighborhood just south of here I'm a longtime Edgewater resident who knows and respects a deep diversity of beauty that existed in our neighbor I'm also a veteran School leader was served in several CPS schools have been able to have a noticeable and positive impact as a father of two boys were bilingual and Multicultural one was a CPS student I know the power and importance from a perspective of high-quality public schools that reflect and celebrate the diversity and here it is that our students bring with them I'm committed to ensuring the capacity is being built and all adults to better serve the soup in the families that we have the privilege of working with it many ways I view my role similar to that of a teacher and that I have to make the space to go trusting relationships and give individual stats secretive vulnerable and to engage in productive struggle to improve their practice having served as the principal of all flex and the assistant principal at stem director at Lakeview High School I've seen the power of inclusive leadership strengthen and build a cool Organization for the benefit of all Stu do my work through my work out into our students teachers and community members helping check the direction of their school and create high quality inn Rivers academic programs it is my belief that this Collective after the school Improvement is the only Dependable one promise I'll be remiss if I didn't also mention that I work my leadership is ensuring that all student regardless of background of Equitable access to our schools offering some resources this means I want to make a decision cool things about the impact of my lgbtqia plus black and brown and diverse Learners in English by population Edgewood School leader I can meet you that I will always be open and transparent and will always do what is best for our students I'll be a fierce advocate for the same community and rely on the Network's I've cultivated both within CPS and through philanthropic organizations Private Industry and with elected officials I look forward to answer your question so that you can learn more about me and I can get a better understanding of your removing thank you okay but if you do have a question to come up are you here okay great and also going back and forth well that's good thank you for that question really important to first time understanding of what are the needs within the program and you can place value is it so I think having conversations with no PE Department director with students who plays for brightness, he's also Vistaprint programming it support Sports Programming you know what are the things that people are really excited about the programming here at sign with regards to 40 I'm also having to look at my location currently is the department be deported right where are there may be some gaps or need after identifying those areas of need really thinking about again you know where my opportunities to provide additional funding and support for those programs that I really care about and again I also recognize that sports program is really costly to write so just kind of going back to what he mentioned earlier out you know Play Wrecking Ball equitable distribution in the Barbie house in the context for each of the programs that cost me Brandon needs a different to I take it to the question so how would I ask for the athletics department in his hand one of the things that I think it's really important to mention is I do believe you got there, but I don't dismiss the power of Athletics adults in the building. I'm so making sure that we're staying at Lenox activities with the Arts important I agree on that part of it is making sure that we understand where I put my location fly with the budget is actually being said I'm going to talk to make sure that we're asking what they want in a can of Progresso yearly in CVS through the town on Saturday prostitute and making sure that we're getting him put what they want to see I'm talking Tom no we don't think about I wish you were that we have pepper Walgreens before I buy small female that's really important that we are also investing to create new athletic programs for all outfits in the building parasite thank you for that so I think one of the things that's really important is that we're helping make sense of real-time structure the teacher has one data that was collected in 2016 but I did a dozen rest we have to help you to make sense of what's going on so one of the things that we could do is spend time collecting data on what Gradebook data having teachers bring an artifact into department meeting and making sense of what's going on academic lie within their classes and helping to loosen a for them if there are any gas & steam performance levels based on Spotify or so not only black and brown but also I'm helping teachers make sense and then give him to hold the weather at differentiation to make sure that when you can or I was giving them all the toothpaste giving them up there so they understand how to actually use can't access for a breakdown is a line unit instructions meet their needs but those are really really important to do it I think it's nobody that I've been in my career I could be trying to be pregnant even Gavin it is often have we got about what we need to do for kids in a classroom and working with them all the time. That is really all I think I'm going to say this one more time. Armstrong you're not coming here to you know Detroit Lions are black and brown students it may be that they don't have a very right now different images for 2010 need I think what's really important is to first start by taking an assessment of what kind of programming and support currently exist which demographic of students I think that you know I can get it provides an entry point into the inquiry but it's really important again to think about if this has been a persistent challenge right what is happening intentionally coyote group of students if they really are a priority group right so is there currently counseling counseling or mentorship opportunities for students within the squad are we partnering with external org stations to provide mentorship and support to our young men of color alert I don't want to think about the importance of curriculum development and thinking about whether or not black and brown Latin X nails are represented the curriculum themselves in their curriculum as assets and value within the school in addition to that I think it's speaking directly to student important to write a simple secondary frightened what are the conversations that are happening with the students right and so that we can really alert Burn Right Through empathy interviews for example students experiencing School every space unfortunately students of color and marginalized groups right do and understanding you and the way that they feel supported or undermine in there they can be participants in their school education Alfred 1 thank you for that why do you I know that libraries in plays such a pivotal role in really helping students you know any curiosity floor who they are who they want to be where they want to go so it's so separate from the notion of connecting students to stories right and also having access to text and resources again that reflect in a firm the cultural identities of students in the library space also thinking about how we are leveraging our library. Library I know that I seen powerful collaboration between Librarians and teachers right when thinking about how do they help students in supporting you know their research address in about the extended in the program and you wonder when it comes to helping students navigate the research process right and understand you know how to access all the material and support them in their writing and so I would be in full support and and do whatever I can to make sure that I'm librarian on because I know the power that that the librarian can have all right so I'll I agree that I'm having an individual in space that can help connect students to the proper ways to access three-part to do research is really important Advocate that we we think about the language that were using as I know. writing is used in the teacher contract help kids navigate to technology I think there is a space and there should be a space we have computers and databases are sufficient but they aren't we need to have is not cool I will get them access in class and Russell what year did accept tax have to be in bed within the curriculum content I'm so they can about the librarian or the media specialist that we have a shared Hy-Vee courses at 1 restart Skillet really important because they were being responsible to the 21st century and the Habit with me today acknowledge right so whether you know we have a space where kids can access databases so I can meet you at Center on where they can access all the databases that CPS has to offer are we investing in databases ourselves I'm off of IB Program I'm talking tom may not be sufficient so I'll be actually using monetary resources program and is that reflected in our priorities all right thanks for the questions I think that goes bad Walmart Monticello KY thinking about what it'll experience at drinks that kids are having their nice contemporary level Julian richer opportunities are we are going to find tell him at that level are we including irrelevant going to be in our classes across-the-board I'm so the kids see them self with artistic expression right so the kids are not actually doing the hard or analyzing art that reflects their experience investment unit any questions ask around diversity in jail and all of our classes in making a helping teachers make sense of some of those achievements population are our program is just like any of the other horses or any other other we're sitting down with our teacher and helping them make sense of the data I'm an understanding with gas right at the 9th grade level and some of those basic our classes were actually talked to the students about their experience really important as well to the kids about what they're actually experiencing the one missing really good I think that intentional recruitment is really important so you know I first and want to understand what is recruitment currently like like like what does outreach look like to what degree are members of the sun Community really visiting communities Beyond sun right I'm really thinking about what neighborhoods and regions of the city where Nazis students really coming from cuz I know that this is a destination for right though I don't think it's that students from other neighborhoods and don't want to be here right but there's something missing that is creating a barrier of them either you know just having access to you know students like miles and the meeting Center teacher and Court teachers and coordinators right to really have to have that at least I'm really understand what the programs are about right and how they can participate in treatment intentional connection program students and teachers coordinators and elementary school again outside of the community that there's a growing lack of diversity right and again the irony in that like this was really celebrated for its Diversity Program connecting with local art centers and park districts that have Arts programming again and that's another great space to have that connection happens that you can interact with you if you are interested in passionate about the Arts so that they can really got to understand what you sent has to offer as well as how to access the amazing Arts programs that the school has question am I trained in our not usually divorce from one another I can get really thinking about how do we integrate social emotional learning within our daily experiences that we create for students right and so stop acting like a raisin sdl. be intentional and also give you support and professional development right and resources that are going to help adults build their confidence in a meaningful way regularly with in their classes because ultimately when students safe and supported and valued they're going to perform right they're going to do their best are going to work more collaboratively and effectively spell prioritizing one over the other really thinking about how to incorporate SEL regular because at the end of the day our students are navigating developmentally right right that we have continued racial Injustice and systems of Oppression that we are all facing and dealing with how have you been keeping that in mind and also for bringing that in the freaking on the conversations with students going to do better academically in a film motivated included energy I agree that SEL academic shouldn't be the boy from one another and really they can be integrated with each other in the classroom Community is that oftentimes a more intentional about integrating SEL activities and to the instruction for a little bit after those better in terms of helping kids develop or whatever issue may be working through but also take him to contact me to check in and check out when you come into the classroom for the first time that day not to respond to them that's appropriate and what they need and that moment how old is the living are Bell ringers write something really short time to get to get an opportunity to express themselves where we're going out quick I'm going to talk about making sure the teachers understand I'm one of the options and what are are they able to do it a time to decompress laughed but we have meditation on the way. is doing the meditation is one of the packages that we do be blowing up for the drizzle fractured bike and put it in so I can really do we replace that one time at right on giving you the opportunity to engage in STL outside the password and that provides an opportunity for teachers giving other spaces in the building for kids to decompress and work remote no I'm serious about about okay thank you so I think one of the things that is great a type of matter is not a factor ride so we really changed out the Bill of Rights and CPS if kids are smoking marijuana before school has to be one of support and say what's up and do you need to go to school and then connecting them with a social worker to the guidance counselor b b q station whatever they have is really important I think one of the things that is really important that we evil eyes and lever spaces do we have no school on Deck engagement isn't real, I think we have a script of curriculum that we often use and health last but it doesn't ride Unforgiven kiss his face after you open and honest and talk about their experiences with a few that making sure we have mission in the space I'm going to work with the students ride so we're not putting the ball off when he tell teacher I having a conversation and then there's no response within that space song Auto Solutions in the building that can actually work with kids as they bring up bring up these issues can you actually repeat the last part of the question a bird in drug use drug reduction in the nose like a third thing that I didn't quite catch that thank you for that question I think it's important to create Open Spaces where we talk explicitly about the issues or challenges that are students are facing Sprite and really thinking about how do we not attach a stigma to that they can feel supported and safe you know I'm working through talking about maybe the reason why that's happening again if it isn't connecting students with clinicians also in community health organizations because again they are after so much that's right in the community do you know where it's Services right to people who are not just people who have been through similar experiences so I think that you know of any approach where is not going to work anything unitive right it's not going to work but again leveraging the relationships that a lot of the Bells in the building already have with connecting a mentorship but also connecting do students to services within the building and leveraging Community Partners to really have those real conversations redefining like what is a healthy lifestyle right where do you want to be what do you want to do I think again by the rights to everything is really rooted in their relationships and in relationship right so whether in something discipline related or drug whatever it is right really leveraging the relationship really listening to understand what are you hearing this are making sure that we're not saying or doing anything really in that sense of safety getting the Y and what they needed so that we can connect students with the appropriate support thank you for the first-ever definitely academic performance important measurement can you repeat the question one more time I'm so sorry OK Google performance but not just how they're doing but also are we seeing growth over time right I think really being able to keep a pulse of monitoring progress and we can follow up with interventions I wanted to support you know students and growing our understanding what might be the buried right another metric that would be important to consider if I know at my current school we do I'm on collaborative looking at my phone and so just have an opportunity to see you know what is the date play the prosecutors on the right and I think that opens the door to the conversations about you know something that wants you to be really doing well that is impacting their students taking pills oceans are important to the kind of open up the increasing support for teachers used to use one another as resources also I'm thinking about you know student perception and strategic way that lets a teacher hasn't decided on how they're going to collect the class right and being successful prices to Cincinnati. Play question teachers that I'll talk about students I'm so teachers from KP eyes or we're going to be looking at I'm really come out what I recommended it upload our quarterly data meetings I'm so teachers because they're at the admin leave mod May sit down and we actually just looking at some point I'm so we have to bring in with them whatever you're going to do if it's a somewhat of assessment on Monday using now start 60 whatever benchmarking diagnostic raising classroom about what is the gray book did actually speak to you so you bring you the truck but what is your favorite saying and how these kids looking at where I can talk and then sometimes if we can get the data to see is there a performance differential between so I have to American student and a white students are English language learner and I'm talking about those things at meet their needs either take the odds of giving them resources at obsessed with them that we'll get our houses together Ride song in the unit plan the lesson plan algebra Flecktones groups and individuals will eat I'm going to the dance and not even talk about talking about students thank you for that mess. So I think I can do this I'm the one of the things that I've been really really want that one that is something I've seen called where you take it back to the school and you figure out if you're interested and you allowed it each other so not only did that give back to the community in a way that I know I can have some different impact so I know that I'm right. already exists volunteerism, and I'm at all so I'm having to parent program in the building is really really important I'm so it's okay to get from here to or Halo parents when something is going wrong Behavior or academic opportunities or parents will like this as well for them and this is what we've done something in the morning and after-school it's not till you bring parents and I'll talk a little bit earlier about medication so she can spare until I bet something that's really a big happy family I'm so relieved by the opportunities in the states for parents feel like a child thank you thank you for that question so one thing I who is again just trying to understand the ways that parents are currently being engaged and the degree to which they feel like you know that they feel bad and so is by screening open like you know you're fighting with the principal right without an agenda just reading an open space right there just to hear directly from families right about how they are experiencing I also already have one I would work to open a parent coordinator position and recruit additional bomb parent volunteers we speak the language and know the cultures of the very diverse and Community again just really important especially in his face that we have folks in the building and I need to buy, right no the cultures of our families and those people are going to be huge Assets in in in in I also work with what sign is the alderman Community Based organizations to really identify in our fat in the native languages of our families Value Place it's not raining over here okay thank you for that question I'm glad you much as external partners are going to eat Army coming into a new organization it's really important against others have a current assessment of what are the services who are the partners right what do those Services look like what is no capacity to be opportunities to expand I just really think about how students are being serviced right through is it small group support my knees are really again having a sense of what are the needs and currently being serviced what about developing internal capacity right so I know that there are plenty of adults within the building that are super passionate about SEL and do amazing work with students daily and so if there's not one of them are you really thinking about it thinking about how to provide free mobile to our realtor commission affected in that work ethic and they might be able to then take some of the workers they can maybe do a CL and reflection in their classroom there are so many amazing organizations out there and now that we're like in this Hybrid Base that used to Virtual it's even easier to access folks from all around the country different organizations to partner with professional development and support the great those Innovative practices right in front of other people are doing in space so let me say that I don't think he's ever replace license and license in the mission of the Board of Nursing that's the Genesis of why does he keep falling so hard to get both of them in the first place but I will argue that we have a vested interest in making sure that we're training all of them in the school on top of what you probably see most of the HP Omen by kids spell commotion need. I'm so if we make sure that we are our kids in the classroom and throughout the day I'm hoping we can see a decline in that number on and then we can truly emails to support you have more capacity to do something I do it a lot of patronage William Porter the other thing I would say is making sure that we're tapping alternative so I can have a man and support our conditions in the building and we have to pick up the money order but we put our money where our priorities and we know that kids have fun right now and need to be addressed I really hate everything what time is it I want to buy a cell phone about that I don't want to assume the Frog maybe they don't really hear from them and saying when are we and listen to what they need in order to feel more included in the community space is really important I'm so that everyone is there a GSA making sure that we're pushing what the principal said sometimes you get may not feel comfortable leadership right, give them the option to the Steve can share with us what their true experiences are north of the weather and then that last part. I just got done I'm headed your way right like letting kids know nothing you said was broke is it going to be used against you or we look down on ourselves right now. My point is about you. So tell me what you need and we'll see what we can ever I am just looking up the list of clubs on the school website I did notice that there is a GSA which I assume include members of the lgbtq community as well as allies and I think that's really important is really thinking about how were also partnering across difference and with allies in the work of some of creating a more inclusive space and so that is definitely a place where I would start comes up just trying to understand what unit experiences are the way that they do and don't feel supported do lgbtqia plus students are they reflected in the building so what degree are those his reason there it is reflected in the curriculum and I am definitely committed to making sure that everyone is included in the physical space and in their drinking because everyone every everyone has contributions and should be celebrated and how it is is is valuable and Powerful at my current school as work with the student leadership group connected to inclusivity that is used to review curriculum development he can't be more students and their background on Animal Hospital opportunities right out there and that works like opportunities to continue the learning and so it's not just checking off a box to say we did it I want think this an LLC in community for the opportunity to speak with you tonight it is clear how much you value your amazing and how it is that you find the right candidate is the principal I know that Limitless potential here and I believe that my ability to harness Talent develop trust and Leadership across state borders and rally around a shared Vision make me a right fit Canada and he'd at least 10 students families in the community and that's collectible if selected as your next principal you can expect that I am here for the Long Haul I have a track record of that to myself and smooth I serve because I know that Realty in continuous Improvement is incremental and it requires a ship that is committed to staying the course we were finding a system structures and processes that means we include all stakeholders and working collectively for the shared vision excellence as your potential Mexico leader you can expect me to do the following Bill ecology relationships throughout the school Community with all stakeholders then honor your experience expertise and decorations for the school of culture that uplift the cultural diversity and assets of the community valued a firm and empowers as agents of soil Improvement I'm committed to Leading for equity and what I mean by that is interrogating and disrupting inequitable policies structures and dynamics that limit access I would work to strengthen coherent alignment between the vision priorities programming and resources I would develop a team for teachers and staff and ongoing professional development that interest-earning for adults and lastly Champion student voice to elevate sent to unchartered Heights thank you again for your time I appreciate more about your values and provided me the opportunity to Nikki Bella call Angela Winchester. Once again I like Livingston and the local council meeting tomorrow evening process every part of me that's in but I would love to be a part of the next week beneficial route me to call Dad and I see the passion and dedication right there on the right. I hope that the wrong about that you've seen how dedicated I am in the migrants and the CPS better at showing you that I do exercise experience is my desire that's a bottom I know they were going to stop at nothing to throw job at wedding our neighbors night.
