1:1 Technology Program

Dear Senn families,

At the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year, Senn High School will fully transition to a 1:1 school by issuing Google Chromebooks to all students.  The Chromebook will be used in the classroom and at home for educational use. It will be returned to Senn High School at the end of the year and we will reissue next year.

As you know, Senn High School is committed to preparing students for postsecondary success. To that end, we have intentionally designed our course offerings so that all students have access to the most rigorous courses and aligned our instruction so that they have the support to excel in these courses. Teachers have spent the last two years learning how to design and infuse digital learning within their classroom through the usage of the Google Suite for Education (“G Suite”) and students will be participating in a variety of learning activities that promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving. The result will be an increase in learning experiences that meet the needs of our diverse student body. Additional benefits of digital learning include: personalized learning, real-time assessment and feedback, expanded learning opportunities, high engagement learning, quality learning products, student choice in showing understanding, flipped classroom experiences, and relevant updated content.

For your student to receive their Chromebook you are required to watch a 20-minute training video with your child prior to the distribution of the device. The training will provide parents and students with an overview of the 1:1 Chromebook Program and important information regarding device care, repair costs, and use in the classroom. Parents can access the training session by going to tinyurl.com/sennchromebookorientation.

We look forward to working with you as we enter this new phase of learning for our students.
